Meet Mary Birmingham!
Parish ministry leader! Author! Teacher! Promoter of the RCIA!

Mary Birmingham is the director of music, liturgy and Christian Initiation and Whole Community Catechesis at Ascension Catholic Community in Melbourne, FL. She is a team member and institute coordinator for The North American Forum on the Catechumenate, a presenter for the Georgetown Center for Liturgy, Spirituality, and the Arts (Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.), a presenter at national and diocesan workshops in the area of initiation, sacramental and liturgical catechesis and Whole Community Catechesis across the United States and Canada.

Mary has a Masters degree in Theology and Liturgy from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN.

Mary Birmingham is the author of four books: Word and Worship Workbook for Year A (Paulist Press, 1999); Word and Worship Workbook for Year B (Paulist Press, 2000); Word and Worship Workbook for Year C (Paulist Press, 1998); Year Round Catechumenate (LTP, 2002) Mary has published articles in the following periodicals: Rite Magazine; Catechumenate; The Catechist; Christian Initiation; Pastoralink’s Catholic Practice; Today’s Parish; Pastoral Music (published by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians); and Religion Teachers Journal.

Mary is a contributing author for various publications for OSV Curriculum Division; Prayer Time: Cycle C (Renew International); AIM, Sunday biblical commentaries (WLP).
