Meet Doris Murphy!

Presenter, Teacher, Author, and Parish Leader

Doris Murphy died in 2011, but she was a great force within the Church for many decades. She gave workshops and did consulting in the field of catechesis and liturgy. She was often called on to present classes for parents involved in sacramental preparation of their children. She gave help in the use of the Learning Center books she authored.

She was frequently called on to present workshops for catechists and Catholic school teachers. Doris wrote a regular column for the Religion Teacher's Journal each month.

She had begun working with students who were at risk of not graduating at the local high school. She had also become a member of the hunger coalition committee in the county where she lived, and saw these as ways to live the Gospel message.

She also spent some months each year with a religious community in England, teaching and leading retreat days.
